February is Pet Dental Health Month! Did you know that:
Oral disease is the most frequently diagnosed health problem for pets
- An astounding 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats show signs of oral disease by age 3, according to the American Veterinary Dental Society (AVDS).
- Many owners think their pet’s bad breath is natural or pass it off as “something they ate”. What they may not know is that persistent bad breath can be a sign of serious health issues, including periodontal disease and infection.
- Periodontal disease is a common problem in dogs, particularly smaller breeds.
- Cats can develop painful resorptive lesions. Studies show that about 28 percent of domestic cats develop at least one of these painful lesions during their lifetime.
During February, we are focusing our efforts on helping you care for your pet’s teeth! As always, we are
offering FREE Dental Checkups, where we can evaluate your pet’s teeth to see if they have infection that needs to be removed through a thorough cleaning, discuss how to start a home dental care routine for your pet to help prevent infection, and discuss the different products available to care for your pet’s teeth. If we feel your pet has infection that needs to be removed, we can customize a treatment plan so you know what the costs will be to have the teeth cleaned to remove the infection!
This February, we are also doing something a little extra than we normally do. We are offering 15% off a complete
dental cleaning, instead of the usual 10% off in February! We know times have been tough for everyone so we are offering a little extra savings this year. The complete cleaning includes a pre-dental exam the day of the cleaning, pre-operative blood work to check your pet’s liver, kidneys, red blood cells and white blood cells, general anesthesia, ultrasonic cleaning to remove the infection from the teeth, polishing, and a fluoride treatment. If your pet needs teeth removed, antibiotics, or pain medication, you will receive 15% off those as well.
If you’ve been trying to wait on getting those teeth cleaned, wait no more! February is the month! Need to make paym
ents on your pet’s teeth cleaning? We offer Care Credit and they have 6 month and 12 month no interest payment options. You can apply in hospital or online at www.carecredit.com. Call us for more details!
